Jenny's work

Jenny Nyström is one of Sweden's most famous illustrators. She was very productive and made thousands of paintings and illustrations in her lifetime.

Jenny Nyström became known and recognized as the chilren's artist.In her illustrations in children's books and children's magazines, she describes the world through a child's eyes. How she managed to create this atmosphere with all its warmth and love, she explained, came from her own happy childhood in the idyllic town Kalmar. She had the ability to take in the essence of a child's dreams and games. In her lifetime, she managed to illustrate over 340 children's books.

Barnkammarens bok (The Nursery Book), with illustrations by Jenny Nyström, was released in 1882. It was the first Swedish picture book created entirely by natives.

Her artistry has decorated covers and contents to, novells, history-, poetry- and song- books. There is no end to the titles in which Nyström has contributed with her imaginative creations.
